New Beginnings: A Leap of Faith in Bredasdorp

It started in September 1999 when we moved from Pretoria to Bredasdorp with our sons, to start a new way of living. Starting our own business, away from everything and everyone we knew was a big step in faith. We started with a small café called ‘Tombola’, making up food hampers for the farm community, selling take away foods, and loose carpets and rugs. We also started the first trailer rental business in the Overberg, called ‘Jacobs Sleepwaens’.

From Auctions to Home Inspirations: Building Trust, One Step at a Time

In 2002, we opened our auctioneering business, ‘Carlo Jacobs Auctioneers’, and this is where our experience in the buying and selling of furniture started. We knew that it would be a challenging journey, but soon gained the trust of the community through our honest way of trading, our excellent service, our exceptional products, and our personal attention to our clients. After gaining the necessary experience, support, and trust in the community, we decided to move into the retail business selling carpets, furniture, and appliances. In September 2006, we moved out of our home , and our home became your home!

Together, we worked hard to build up this beautiful business, which you know as House of Carpets, Furniture, and Appliances. In 2012 we had the opportunity and privilege to open a branch in Struisbaai, a popular holiday destination, with our main focus on beach house furniture. Our aim has always been to supply quality goods to our customers, at affordable prices and excellent service. We are in the people’s business, and therefore wish to build a lifelong relationship with our customers, providing the best service, and making sure they are happy. That way we know they will always return. As husband and wife, we believe our strength lies in working together in our business and being good stewards over what was entrusted to us.
